Newest Update - Bee Gees Movie

Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers director) will direct the still untitled Bee Gees movie. The Paramount project is being produced by GK Films, Amblin, and Sister.
In March of this year, "Sing Street" filmmaker Carney stepped in for Kenneth Branagh, who was originally attached when the project was announced in March 2021.
Oscar-nominee John Logan also signed on to the project in 2021, taking over from screenwriter Ben Elton.
John Carney, has stepped down, and the director of 2019's Hustlers, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and The Meddler:.....
Lorene Scafaria, will now be sitting in the director's chair and make the film for Paramount Pictures.
Lorene Scafaria's Hustlers became the highest-grossing live-action stateside film for star Jennifer Lopez taking in $105 million and her highest opening with $33 million.
The Bee Gees biopic film has been in development at Paramount for quite a while, John Logan has reportedly written the latest version of the screenplay.
Graham King, who produced the Oscar-winning Freddie Mercury biopic The Bohemian Rhapsody will produce the Bee Gees film along with Amblin Entertainment.
Barry Gibb will be heavily involved with the project as an executive producer

Dear GSI members
 David English
had a bad heart attack last Tuesday morning and was operated on quickly. He is fighting hard and we know the thoughts of all the
Bunburys and of all his other friends will be with him and wishing him a speedy recover!
David is currently resting in hospital and next week they will be conducting tests to evaluate his condition.
GSI wishes David a soon and fully recovery and sending love and hugs to him.

Great honour presented to Bee Gees' Sir Barry Gibb on October 16. 2022. in Miami Beach.

In addition to his honorary companion award, five other non-citizens were awarded honorary medals in the Order of Australia.
Mr Gibb is a US citizen and the honorary award he has received is designed to honour non-citizens "where their service has benefited Australia and Australians" in "Australia's pre-eminent means of recognising service and achievement", Governor-General David Hurley said.
Unlike citizen appointments that are considered by the Council of the Order of Australia, honorary award recipients are recommended by the prime minister before being approved by the governor-general.

Dave English
Unfortunately early last month there was the devastating news of David English. He had suffered a serious heart attack.
Then on November 12 Dave died and left his family and all his friends heartbroken. This was so sudden and he left much too soon.
There has been a funeral ceremony for Dave English on November 23 and GSI will soon start a special dedication on GSI for all who loved him and who have so much fond memories of him.
We will never forget.
GSI will create a special place in dedication of David English.

Re-release of 20 Bee Gees albums in Japan
The 20 Bee Gees studio albums now have been re-issued on November 23, 2022.
At one point during the day, there were 19 Bee Gees albums listed in the Amazon Japan's 100 best sellers list. !!!!!
The 20 studio albums are on SHM-CD with SHM standing for Super
High Material. It is supposed to provide an enchanted audio
quality.
There is no bonus material. This is the first massive
re-release of Bee Gees albums in Japan since Capitol/Universal
acquired their catalogue in 2016.
The Japanese CDs will be made available through outlets like
Amazon on or around December 4th. 2022.

David English - Rest In Peace
 David like we will remember him
Herewith I send condolences to his dear family and all his friends. David left us too soon but will stay in our memory as that great and happy guy with
so much positive spirit. I met him several times briefly and he phoned me once as well. I also remember him as one of the guys ( private Andrews) playing in the movie
"A Bridge Too Far", which handles about the battle in my city: Arnhem, in World War II. David was a close friend to Barry Gibb and the whole Gibb family.
We keep him in our memory with lots of photos, videos and nice articles and wish his family and close friends the best in these very difficult times.

I have regular contact with the Gibb families in the US and UK and therefore sometimes forward messages for them to their fans via GSI website/Facebook group.
Of course we (the Gibb Families and myself) understand that not all fans follow GSI but this is the only way to reach as many fans as possible when I am asked.
That having said, I received a request to ask all fans who have been visiting or planning to visit Barry's house ( this seems to be the idea of countless people these days!!!) .....
Please understand that it is not possible for Barry to constantly take time to speak to all these fans who come to his door and who are all expecting his attention and to say hello.
I really hope that all fans understand that you cannot expect this from Barry.Please respect the privacy of Barry, but also of all the Gibb family members.
I suggest you mention this also to your fellow BG fan / friends, who might not follow GSI but who do have plans to visit the Gibb houses, thanks

Some updates
Probably it will answer a few questions fans have had lately.
 Many asked about the hurricane situation in Florida. GSI received an update from the Gibbs over there on September 25.:
"Thankfully we are not in the 'direct line of fire' of hurricane 'Ian' but are expecting 3 -6 inches of rain and high wind gusts from the outer storm bands on Tuesday and
Wednesday here on the east coast of Florida as it makes it's way up the west coast towards Tampa and Tallahassee".
Latest update which I received today September 29: Everyone is ok here in the South East Florida. We only experienced 6 inches of rain and strong wind gusts!!
There are no recording sessions planned yet by Barry before the end of the year.
The Japanese record company are planning the release / re - release the complete Bee Gees' Catalogue and are hoping to be ready do so before the end of this year.
Barry took a break from working on his book for a while but has recently started working on it again with his son Ashley.
No casting news yet about the upcoming biopic film about The Bee Gees

Today I was told... If fans want to send Barry and Linda Birthday /Anniversary greeting cards that's ok but please do not send any gifts, also individual acknowledgements will not be possible.
Instead of sending gifts.... You can think of giving a donation to a cause they like. I was asked to suggest that fans wanting to make a donation to
Barry or Barry and Linda should make a donation to for instance DRI. DRI usually will let you know that a donation has been made in his or their name. In terms of a
UK based charity, Nordoff Robbins who as we know are receiving Barry's income from his Isle of Man stamp issue would be a good choice too.
Donations to their beloved causes are a wonderful present to give to Barry and Linda.

I know that despite all my explanations and the requests of the Gibb family to the fans the past years many of you keep sending items and requests for autographs to
Barry and family. This doesn't make me happy. I have discussed this already several times with management and family and always tell them that I regret to hear that despite
my asking in their name not to do so, it still happens that many fans write to Barry's address for autographs or otherwise. It simply isn't possible at the moment!!
This means that as a result I heard today, for the requests which are now already at Barry's place: they only will be able to send out photos with printed signatures,
at least for now!! Until maybe management/family will decide for another solution. So.... do not send new requests anymore now. I hope that you all will really respect the wishes of The Gibb family!!

Olivia Newton John
Sad news about good friend of The Gibbs: Olivia Newton John. Today she passed away.
We all know that she and her family were good friends with The Gibbs and not so long ago Olivia once again went in the studio with Barry for his latest album Greenfields Volume1.

State Funeral For Olivia Newton-John
According to an online site: pollstar.com, however not confirmed!!
Dame Olivia Newton-John is to be buried at her California ranch but her former hometown
of Melbourne will hold a state funeral, described by Victoria's premier Daniel Andrews as
"more of a concert than a funeral."
The date and venue are to be decided but it will cover her music, films and charities, with John Travolta and Barry Gibb expected to appear.
On the night of her Aug. 8 death, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Arts Centre Melbourne and Flinders
Street Station were lit in pink to acknowledge her work with breast cancer research through the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne.
The New South Wales parliament also acknowledged her passing, along with others in a two-week period:
Judith Durham of folk-rock outfit The Seekers and First Nations singer-songwriter Archie Roach, who sang of the trauma of being part of the Stolen Generation.

Good News about the Robin exhibition at the Thame Museum
Today people of the museum contacted me with good news!!:
"Due to huge demand for our Robin Gibb Exhibition we've decided to keep it running until 30th October.
Then after that a reduced display until the end of the year. We will then review for 2023!!
The online shop is now back up and we have a new card designed by Dwina on there with the Songbird poem. Plus limited edition,
print of Prebendal painted specially for us by Thame Artist Derek Witchell. Only 50 of these will ever be printed."
Just come and watch in the museum the story of this lovely town where Robin fell in love with too and spend so many good times and enjoy all the special items
gathered of him and the brothers on the special exhibition. Thame Museum was created in the old Magistrates court in Thame to record the life of
Thame and local area. Apart from a main large exhibition space containing lots of exhibitis, we have several visiting exhibitions each year,
offer a wonderful array of talks and lectures and now.... we have our very own online shop. Please browse, enjoy and support the museum.
The entrance is FREE, all work in the museum is done by volunteers but if you've enjoyed your visit you can always put a donation in the donation box so the museum can continue with all activities and even expand!!

UPDATE: Bee Gees Biopic and New Album!!
"Several fans have been sending me questions as they were confused after reading postings elsewhere on Facebook concerning the biopic plans and other plans for Barry.
I understand this concerns an article of over a year ago!!! (about March 2021). However things have changed already since then like GSI already
mentioned in the latest updates here on the group of last January, March and April!! I mentioned about the new team working for the Bee Gees biopic.
John Carney is working on the project now since Kenneth Branagh parted late last year and John Logan is writing the script. The change won't cause much of a
delay I heard so like earlier mentioned probably it will go into pre- production somewhere in 2023 and likely not hit the big screen until late 2024.
The producers of the Bee Gees biopic seem to be extremely excited about their final team now in place including director John Carney and writer
John Logan so I guess it will not be long before Barry, Dwina and Yvonne receive the initial draft of a script for their consideration!!!
Latest about Barry's recording plans etc: I heard that the follow up album of Greenfields Voluwe One is at the moment still in the planning stages so I believe
the earliest they would commence recording would be late this year or early 2023. I will keep you posted as always."

GSI update - Dear GSI Members,
I receive many questions from all of you week after week. I often try to email back personally, and often answer the questions on the group.
Also the last two months I again received questions from many of you although not much is 100% certain or confirmed yet but you know that I am in touch with many
people in and around the Gibbs since the early seventies already and post updates, news etc. etc. since then.
So, here's some of what you have been wondering the past months. When I hear more details, receive confirmation or what ever I will surely let you know like always.
------- All is okay with the Gibbs in Florida, also concerning Covid. The situation is getting much better
---- I believe that the recent change of
Biopic team members was due to the covid delay causing scheduling conflicts based on previous team members prior contractual commitments.
I don't think however this will cause much if any delay!
------ The photo of Barry I posted last week looks like he met with John Logan recently, that's good.
---- I think that Barry and family members may visit the UK this summer for a 3 - 4 weeks vacation but no final decision has been made yet I understand and as
such there are no plans in place yet to visit the Isle of Man too.
---- I understand that one talked and discussed about a follow up album to
'Greenfields' but as yet this has not been confirmed..... concerning the latest question I received this morning about the possibility that
Barry might be planning a live stream concert on May 16: No, there are no plans for a live streaming event....!!

The news has just come out that the Co-op has sold the Funeral Care/ Picture House site to Southway Housing Trust. We are very frustrated about the decision, but there is still a way forward.
We are talking to Southway to develop a viable shared plan to achieve our aims for the site.

In answer to several questions I have received the past week via the GSI email
Marion: "Some of you asked me if Barry is involved in the 40th anniversary celebrations this week for the Australian TODAY TV program....
Yes, Barry pre-recorded a 'Happy 40th Anniversary' video message for the Today show in Australia which will be aired somewhere this coming week.
Concerning questions of Barry's pre-corona plans to visit Isle Of Man again after the statues would be unveiled etc. There are no plans for him to visit the IOM until next year! I'll keep you posted of course.
Barry has no special TV appearances planned (yet) for the summer months while now being in the UK, nor are he and Linda at the moment planning to attend Wimbledon 2022.
When more news becomes available I will surely update you all."

Off to Liverpool for repairs
The Bee Gees Statue on Douglas promenade will be temporarily removed from the Isle of Man's capital later this month for repairs,
Douglas Council has said. The bronze depiction of brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb was unveiled on the seafront in July 2021.
The statue, created by artist Andy Edwards, is to be removed on June 23rd and shipped to Liverpool to allow for some additional fixings to be fitted.
The famous trio will be back in place in time for Douglas Carnival on July 23rd.

Marion / GSI: Latest I heard from the Gibbs in Miami.
"They of course have seen all the pictures as well as Dwina being interviewed on TV at the Thame museum. I understand they love the exhibition.
As the museum is quite small I don't think they museum could leave all items for a permanent display but as it is so successful the museum might ask
Dwina if there's a possibility to hold future exhibits of Robin's Memorabilia from time to time. ! I am certain she would be able to provide previously unseen items each time.
I am not sure yet if Barry and / or Linda and some of their family members may visit "The Prebendal"( if they indeed decide to visit England this summer)
but if they do I am sure they will also visit the Museum to view the exhibit. I will keep you all posted".

The day of the opening of the Robin exhibition at Thame Museum.
In the museum are lots of special Robin items to be seen and also quite some things which you can buy as a souvenir. There are of course countless special photos and an emotional video etc.
Around 10 o clock the first fans gathered in front of the museum which was very emotional.
Later in the day Dwina came to visit the fans who'd come to the exhibition this first day and they chatted for a while and of course talked about all the wonderful memories.
Just a short walk away from the museum Robin's resting place became more and more covered with lovely flowers,
cards and presents from fans who of course next to visiting the museum also came by at Robin's resting place and enjoyed some wonderful time in lovely Thame. The town Robin loved so much!!

The Robin Gibb Tribute Exhibition / Thame Museum

Like earlier reported The Thame museum will start a special exhibition on May 21 in honour of the 10th anniversary of Robin Gibb's passing ( the 20th. of May 2012).
His wife Dwina has been amazing with all her help putting this special exhibition tribute together.
The numbered Limited Edition brochure is available to buy along with other specially curated merchandise, including CDs of his last work, The Titanic Requiem written with his son, RJ.
The exhibition will last at least until October 2022 and maybe even till the end of the year so that many fans will get a chance to visit the
Thame museum and hopefully many of them will also have the time to look a bit further around this beautiful place and to see where Robin lived, visit the church and Robin's
grave as well as the memorial plaque of his young brother Andy which is situated on the same cemetery. Next to that I can tell you
Thame itself is a lovely picturesque old town to visit too as well as the surrounding areas and places.
"The exhibition is going to be amazing with lots of memorabilia for sale including a limited edition brochure which will contain special personal photos
never seen on the internet, each will be numbered with Dwina having number one... At the moment they have not decided on the sale price but it
could be as much as £35 and an amazing keepsake.. .A full size photo of Robin standing by the large rabbit in the Prebendal garden will hopefully be printed
so fans can have their photos taken standing next to Robin.. A glass cabinet in the main room of the museum will contain special items hence the security
cabinet, it's empty at the moment but situated next to the small room between the 2 large rooms, the small room will look amazing when it's fitted out with coloured lighting etc..
Dwina has visited the museum several times and people of the museum visited her at The Prebendal too, to work on the exhibition.
Dwina is super exited at assisting with the organizing of the exhibition and she is full of great ideas... It's going to be magical." Thanks Mike Wiggins.
The admission to the Robin exhibition is free and the museum is open: Weds, Fri, Sat, Sun. If groups of 20 or more want a private viewing they can open up for that on another day.
There are no timed tickets needed. If there is a queue you will have to wait as it's just a quite small museum.

John Carney is ready to try his hand at the musical biopic of The Bee Gees.
Late last year Kenneth Branagh who was attached to direct parted ways with the project.
John Logan is writing the script and Barry Gibb like earlier mentioned is executive producer and is described as "very involved in the narrative film"

The past 2 weeks GSI has been receiving questions about Love And Hope Ball: will it be organized this year, when , where etc.... I have checked:
We all know that organizing big events still is a problems due to Corona in most countries and so for the moment I recommend that you do not make any plans
(flights, hotels, etc.) to go and visit a possible Love and Hope Ball this Spring as there is no guarantee that this event will be confirmed and I understand that
Barry and Linda would not be attending in person this year. Perhaps only via video message.

Shirlee Faur has passed away
Sad news at the beginning of the year, which GSI heard yesterday.
"I received the message that Shirley Faur has passed away.
Known by many of us as: Shirlee from Omaha.
Her daughter Karla wrote me Shirley passed away in her sleep on January 5th. 2022.
She had been suffering from Alzheimer's since about 2015.
She worked with me for quite some years doing fan work for The Bee Gees. I visited her at her home once in Omaha and we went to Miami Beach to visit Barry and Linda Gibb as well.
Wonderful memories will stay in my heart for ever.

Dee Gees
The drummer of the Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins passed away at the age of only 50 yrs. The band was on tour in South Africa.
A while ago The Foo Fighters released a project with Bee Gees cover songs (and even one of Andy Gibb) and performed them in their shows being the Dee Gees.

All of you who follow GSI on Facebook as well, have read the regular updates about the problems concerning all fake accounts which keep appearing online,
in our case about people who pretend to be Barry Gibb and in some cases Steve or Michael Gibb as well.
New fake profiles pop up each day, are deleted and right away these people start a new account with a slightly different name.
Some fans still believe in these fake messages. Don't believe any of what they are saying and never pay them any money!!! Just report them every time!!. All these accounts are fake.
