Barry's first concert on the West Coast in Concord (near San Francisco). Open air show again, good weather, great atmosphere and lots of enthusiastic fans. Sam unfortunately still wasn't there but according to Barry she's doing better and hopes to be there in Hollywood. Barry spoke of her with tenderness and asked the audience to wish her well.

Barry during the concert, feeling happy.   © Anne Jakowenko
 Janie Freeman:
Hi all, I'm reporting in at 2:26 am after seeing Barry in concert at Concord. All I can say is Wow! His voice was excellent. The crowd was really great and appreciated the artists. I, myself burst into crying when Barry would get choked up. thought I was over feelings for Robin, but the tears came anyway. Barry made us laugh too. I didn't know Stephen was so good on guitar. I think he has an excellent voice for rock, as he showed when he sang the song Maurice wrote (I forget the title) . So, Barry and the gang, thank you for the best concert ever!

I was blessed to see Barry in concert last night at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, CA. It was an absolutely wonderful concert. Barry did a fantastic job! He looked great as always, and definitely still has a strong voice and amazing falsetto. He was relaxed and smiling throughout the evening and seemed to be having as much fun as the audience. His son Stephen did a great job too with his masterful guitar playing as well as his deep singing voice. Barry had "help" from the audience finishing up his final encore, "Words." He let us sing the end a couple of times, then, smiling at the audience, said "It's my turn," as he finished out the song. You've still got it, Barry!! I am so happy I was able to experience this extraordinary concert. What a wonderful evening!
Regards, Linda Johnston

To Barry on GSI guestbook:
I hope you have the opportunity to read this as I feel that many of fans of the Bee Gees would agree with me in what I am about to say.
I saw you in Concord California and the one thing that stood out for me was not the concert, which was awesome and you have some great musicians there, but the attitude of the fans who were there. The fans still get it. The Bee Gees are simply not just a music group, they are intimately involved in their fans lives. Let me explain:

When they were happy, the Bee Gees had a song about it which they could relate to.
When they were sad, the Bee Gees had a song about it which they could relate to.
When they were in love, the Bee Gees had a song about it which they could relate to.
When they fell out of love, the Bee Gees had a song about it which they could relate to.
Everything which made a major impact on the lives of millions of fans worldwide, well, the Bee Gees had a song about it which they could relate to. This has gone on for five decades!
What I saw at the concert was not a bunch of old people going to hear some old songs and relive old memories like many older rock band fans, but people, old and young, going to simply have fun and show you how much they still care and still need the Bee Gees as a group.
Yes, Robin, Maurice and even Andy are gone, but there is still a part of them that will continue on as long as the Bee Gees go on. You had the right idea with doing a concert, but I think it is time to look at the whole picture. None of your brothers can ever be replaced, but, especially from the perspective of the fans, the Bee Gees need to continue as a band. I think even your brothers would agree.
Common Barry, move the new Bee Gees into the next generation!
Paul Mirich

Lynette Yorks with Barry
 Dear Marion,
I had a WONDERFUL time at the May 31st concert in Concord, CA. Barry was so generous with his time to allow us to take pictures with him and sign autographs at the sound check. Stephen Gibb was also so kind to the fans. Words cannot express my experience that day! I went all by myself, but it wasn't long before I made several friends. The concert was awesome! It was the best concert I've ever been to! Barry Gibb sounded perfect and the show was extraordinary with the sound, lighting and entire band. Beth Cohen was incredible. They put together such a beautiful show. It was touching and emotional at times while other times Barry made me giggle and laugh with his wit and humor It was brilliant. Another thing I truly loved was when Stephen took the lead on the song "Gotta Get A Message to You". Stephens voice was gorgeous...yes I mean gorgeous, husky and soulful. All I can say is Thank you Barry Gibb and Thank you crew for a day/night I will cherish forever! Marion, Thank you so much for the sound check pass. I appreciate you getting me on the list.
I will never forget that day, Lynette Yorks.

A beautiful day and a sold out Bowl with lots of fans and many celebrities to celebrate the Bee Gees music together with Barry. Amongst the audience were people like: Vince Melouney, Ana Gazzola, Olivia Newton-John, Peter Noone, Peter Foldy, Barry Manilow, Graham Bonnet, David Leaf, Andrew Sandoval etc. Good to see Sam next to Barry again during this concert, feeling well enough to perform again.

Barry before this last show of his US Tour: This is crazy! Never thought I'd do a show at the Hollywood Bowl! Excited, Nervous, Ready.

Yvonne I had met before when Maurice was still alive and she told me she loved the photos posted on your GSI site. The old ones I took in England. Barry was in great form last night at the Hollywood Bowl and having known him a lifetime ago, when I was a teenager in Australia, I felt things had come full circle as I listened to him perform a truly amazing catalogue of Bee Gees hits. Reception afterwards and a quick hello in the dressing room. It was truly a night to remember".

Reviews from facebook:
Vince Melouney (first original Bee Gees guitarist):
I just saw Barry Gibb at the Hollywood Bowl last night, GREAT SHOW. He played for a long time going through so many wonderful songs. I met up with many people I haven't seen for many a year, John Farrar and his wife Pat, John is a wonderful musician and song writer, having written many songs for Olivia Newton John who I saw as well. Peter Noon of Hermits Hermits, haven't seen Peter since doing Top of The Pops in the 60's and many more folks. Caught up with Barry and his dear wife Linda after the show, also a surprise to see Nolene Batley, has been a long time. A wonderful night we had.......

 Laura Keib-?GSI,
A great, big THANK YOU, to the awesome Mr. Barry Gibb! Your concert tour not only made best friends of many of your fans, but brought us all together, many for the very first time. Your choice of songs was brilliant and got us all off our feet, dancing and singing along with you. Your voice was strong, your Falsetto, perfect. To see you up on that stage, singing from the depths of your heart, brought tears of joy for many of us, and put smiles on all our faces. None of your fans will ever forget your Mythology Tour and what it meant for us to share this special time with you, Stephen, Ali, Samantha and all of your family. I think, by now, you know how much your fans love you and support you. We wait for your next project with great anticipation. Thank you so much for touring and bringing back so many wonderful memories with each song. You have created new memories for all of us to cherish forever. We love you very much Barry!! From the depths of my heart, I thank you.
